More Projects

Well here we are still in Tomball, Texas and waiting to take off in early March. Oh I forgot to tell you that we have landed a job in Southern Virginia starting in April. We are very excited and can't wait to get going.
In the mean time we have been doing some remodeling I guess. You see we have a sleeper/sofa that we just don't like. When the sleeper is pulled out you can't get to the kitchen area without lifting the foot end of the bed. (Very hard to do when your hands are full with stuff). So instead of purchasing a different type of couch we decided to just pull the sleeper portion out and make storage underneath it. Sounds simple................Yea Right!!

Here is the sofa without the sleeper part.

Ok so that wasn't too bad, 6 screws and 2 bolts and it was out the door. Now we can see the potential storage area but no where to sit. We start the framing process now.

I cut a 2x3 stud into little legs and mounted them to the back of the couch. Here take a look.

As you can see I also placed a center 1x3 board with legs. This will give support for the plywood that will be coming next. Also take notice of the legs and board in the front part of the couch.

Ok time for another pic. I bet you are now sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to see how it came out, aren't (is that a word?) you???

Now you are starting to see that I cut a piece of plywood for the back section of the couch and placed a piano hinge for the second piece of plywood that will make the lid.

Opps, there is Brianne helping out with the couch. She does like to help out with almost any kind of project. Ok on with the project.

Now you can see the finished product. Drill a hole in the front of the lid so you can lift it and there you have it. Place the cushions on and have a cold one. Sherry couldn't wait for me to get out of the way so she can get started putting stuff away.

Oh by the way Brianne is sleeping on the couch with no problem. We are talking about some kind of extension to the couch so she will have more room in the future.

We will be trying to keep up with the blog but you know how that goes.

See Ya next time.

We Are On Our Way

Hello and sorry for not getting back to this blog.
We have been pretty busy since the last time I posted. We finally moved out of the house on December 12th to a nearby RV park here in town.
We wanted to stay close to the kids for the holidays. Speaking of which, we celebrated our first Christmas here in the 5ver. It went very well. Here is our little four foot tree that we put up.

Our daughter Brianne had no problem with the tree her only worry was how was Santa Claus going to get into the trailer.

After Christmas we took a job running a fireworks stand for the first time. I parked the trailer next to the stand and it was very wet, swampy, and cold. Take a look for yourself what we had to deal with.

This job lasted through the New Year and we came back to the RV park that we were at before. We are now searching for another job around the southern states.

We are still modifying the trailer to our liking which I guess will always happen.

Well until next time be safe.

Sold The House, YAHOO!!!!

Hello once again and with great news!!

We have sold the stix and bricks on the 30th of October. In this day and age it was pretty obvious that we didn't get what we wanted but it sold and that's what matters the most.

Now Sherry and I will be planning our final yard sale and moving items to the other kids in the family.

Our current plans are to stay near by through the holidays. Our target date to move out is around the middle of December to a RV park close to the kids. We do have a couple of feelers out about jobs that are also close by to us so things seem to be looking up.

We are very excited and can't wait to hook up and move on down the road. We will keep you updated.

Have a good one and be safe.

Getting Ready to Get Started

Hello and Welcome to The Lambros Travels.

We are Nick, Sherry and Brianne Lambros, aka Toots2Go on Workampers Forum. We had this idea of full timing for many years now. Well with the economy as it is I lost my job back in November of 2008. Wondering what to do next I applied for unemployment and we started to head to the office to apply for food stamps when we were in a car accident and totalled our S-10 Blazer truck.

We started to look for another vehicle when we came across this fifth wheel 31 foot trailer. Sherry and I started to think about the odds of going full timing a little earlier than we planned. After the holidays were over we purchased the trailer and truck as a package deal.

We have been downsizing ever since and we are just waiting on the sale of the house. We have outfitted the 5ver to our liking and will be packing it all up in the very near future. Needless to say there were some repairs to the 5ver but that was no problem, two circuit boards one for the heater and one for the fridge, and one toilet gasket. I guess that is about average.

Brianne is our youngest child. She was blessed to us in 2002 not only as a surprise but also 3 months premature. She weighed 1 lbs., 8oz. when she was born. She was in the hospital for 3 months and Sherry never missed a day visiting her, 99 days straight. Overall with her troubles in her earlier years she is doing very well now. We have decided to home school her and have started her in the first grade this year. She really likes the idea of homeschooling and does quite well at it. She loves to help out and the only child I know that likes to do the dishes. Uhmm, "built in dishwasher??"

Thanks for looking in and I hope to have more in the near future with pictures.
